Rubber prices for car tires is up 41%

More cars being sold means more tires that need to be produced. With China being the main country buying the cars (30% increase in auto sales). Some things to remember: each tire takes close to 7 gallons of oil to make it. Each tire. So not only do we have a dependency on oil to make gas, but now we need more oil to make the tires the cars ride on. Even with all the electric cars coming out they still need tires too.

We need to find alternative rubbers or find a way to recycle them.

Here’s what Bloomberg news had to say about the tire market and what it means to the consumers.

To help you from having to buy tires sooner than you need to here is a video to show you what to start looking for.

Cheers!

Your used car may be worth more than ever

Supply and Demand. We’ve all heard this before. When there is less of something the demand goes up. When there is more of something the demand goes down. Pretty simple right?

If you have a good mpg used car the demand for your car has gone up, way up! You’re car could be worth more now than when you originally bought it (that’s a little off, but you get what I mean.)

With everything that happened in Japan the supply of new cars is running out. There are some dealers now who are having to wait till the end of the year for new shipments. And with the new cars that are on the lots you’ll actually be paying more for them. So it makes sense to seriously consider trading in your used car. Dealers are paying top dollar! Some are even giving huge incentives on new cars with warranties.

No rims, no ride.

We hear rappers talking about rollin’ on their 22″s. Nothing wrong with having nice rims. Black, Chrome, Big or Small. Unless you become a target for getting them stolen.

Without your rims you don’t have a car. Period. No matter what they look like or their size they are necessary to having a moving vehicle. With the economy being in it’s current state people are a little bit more willing to do things to earn money. One of those things is stealing tires and rims off your car.

In Corpus Christi, TX Kiii news did a story on which cars are being targeted and also how to possibly avoid it happening to you.

Next time you’re in the service department at Riverdale Nissan ask the parts manager about getting some locking lug nuts.

Enjoy!

Man caught selling U.S. military spy plane on eBay

By Rosa Golijan

A man was recently arrested after selling a U.S. military spy plane on eBay. Apparently the Homeland Security Department was not amused by his attempt to make a buck.

Reuters reports that the plane in question is an unmanned light-weight drone which 47-year-oldĀ Henson Chua tried to sell for $13,000:

The Raven is a four-pound plane equipped with three cameras that U.S. troops use for battlefield surveillance. It can be taken apart and carried by troops and then reassembled for use.
